Soper Photographic Terms & Conditions
Photographed Items
As shown on every product page we do not use stock photos for our second hand goods. Each Camera, lens and second hand accessory is photographed individually with an exact description of what will be getting from the item. We do this so you, as the customer, know exactly what you are going to receive and you know what to expect when you unbox your order. Stock photographs are only used on items which are bought new in for example film, new lens caps, new camera straps and film.
Returns Policy
On the rare occasion we my have missed an issue, this could possibly be a hidden fault or an intermittent problem, we will resolve it. Unfortunately these are the joys of second hand goods and sometimes a problem can arise after a little while. Provided it is within the warranty period we will repair, replace or refund depending on the situation. If you find yourself in the unlikely position where you are dissatisfied with an item, please let us know as soon as possible.
We do require returns to be processed in a timely manner, the customer has 14 days from the date of purchasing to return the item(s) or we have the right to refuse the return - even if it has previously been agreed. The customer must quote their order number for us to process a return. Once returned we will check the item through. Depending on whether a repair, replace or refund has been agreed we will follow the necessary steps to resolve this. Unless agreed otherwise the customer must cover the return postage and it must be posted with the necessary insurance.
As for non faulty returns, it is at our discretion to accept the return. The item(s) must be returned in the same condition as when they were posted. This situation could be if the customer has bought the item(s) and changed their mind or what they have bought is incompatible with their other equipment, the customer will incur a 10% restocking fee. This will be deducted from the refunded amount.
This returns policy does not affect your statutory rights.
Warranty
All items come with up to 90 days warranty. Within the time of the warranty we will repair, replace or refund any orders that have found to be faulty. The warranty provided covers parts and labour, but does not include batteries or repairs due to mis-use or damage. The customers preference of warranty resolution will be considered however if we are unable to repair or replace the item(s) a refund will be the resolution.
The warranty we provide with the items is nontransferable, the warranty is given to the owner of the item. If the customer sells, loans or rents the item on within the warranty time it will terminate the warranty period.
The warranty does not cover a customers improper use. If an item is returned misused, damaged or incomplete we reserve the right to refuse the return. We also do not cover selenium cells in the warranty. Selenium cells often decay at inaccurate levels and so cannot be guaranteed to work consistently. Although oil on the aperture blades is something we cover in the warranty, oil on the aperture blades of rangefinder lenses is not covered in the warranty. Another factor that is not covered in the warranty is the ‘feel’ of the focussing throw on lenses. The ‘feel’ is not considered a valid fault as it is somewhat subjective down to personal preference.
Order Fulfilment
We reserve the right to cancel to request an amendment to any order placed with us. In the unlikely event of an error on our system, which can happen from time to time with such a large volume of products in our catalogue, we are not obligated to fulfil an order with an error. We will however work to provide the customer with satisfaction either providing a similar item, a refund or another solution which will be agreed upon with the customer. We will not make any amendments or cancellations to orders without notifying the customer and discussing the path forward. If the ‘feel’ of the lens is a concern to the customer, we can provide more information and advise on how heavy or light the ‘feel’ of the focussing throw is. The warranty does not cover rangefinder alignments after 14 days from date of order. We recommend that rangefinder cameras are handled with care as a simple knock can take displace the rangefinder. It is also important to note that certain cameras have their quirks. It is the customers responsibility to research the camera they are purchasing and learn how to handle the item. If the customer has any concerns we can provide advice and guidance. For example with a Hasselblad 500CM the customer must set the shutter correctly before replacing the lens on the camera. If the customer has made an error we cannot cover this in the warranty.
Order Cancelation
If a customer has placed an order and wishes to cancel it before it is shipped we can process a refund. Unfortunately we are still charged by Paypal for the transaction after the customer has placed the order. Any orders that are cancelled by the customer through no fault of our own are charged 5% of the orders total to cover this fee. We will deduct this amount before refunding the remaining balance to the customer.
Postage & Delivery
Our main delivery method is Royal Mail. Depending on the value of the order we will post with Special Delivery or First Class Signed For. This ensures that customers orders are fully insured and require a signature on delivery. As we are a small team we can’t always dispatch orders straight away however we do aim to get orders dispatched within 24 hours of receiving cleared payment (not including weekends or bank holidays). If there are any particular delivery requirements or any urgency with an order we ask the customer to call and we will do our best to accommodate. However please kindly note once an order is dispatched we cannot make any amendments nor can we be held responsible for any service delays with the postage provider.
In the very unlikely event that a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, the customer must inform us within 7 days of receiving the parcel. We can then work to resolve this with our postage provider. After 7 days we are unable to resolve this as it is a timely matter. We must recommend that the customer takes care with the parcel and checks the contents promptly after receiving it.
Please kindly note we only post orders within the UK.
