Test Roll – Mamiya c330 professional
The c330 is a TLR 6x6 medium format camera introduced in the
1970s. This particular unit, body, is in very good clean condition with no
lifting of its skin, virtually no rubbing marks, dints or scratches. The focus
screen is bright and unscratched. Internally the condition is excellent with
all moving parts moving freely and as they should. New light seals have been
fitted, I carried the body in full sun without case for several hours with no
ill effects.
There are 5 lens sets as part of the bundle which are 55mm, 80mm, 135mm, 180mm and 250mm. the 80/135/180 are nice and clean, fungus free with the expected minor dust of lenses this age. The 55mm is not quite as tidy with rub marks to the viewing optic, the taking lens has 1 very minor scratch but viewing and taking is unaffected and shoots perfectly well. The 250 looks the part but light hazing to the viewing and almost invisible hazing to the taking makes it imperfect, it’s shutter at 1 and ½ seconds show lag, again though in the field you cannot tell with no affect to images.
The camera was tested using Ilford FP4 220 safety roll film
expired approx. 1994, I rated the film at 80asa and metered generously for
exposure. It was developed in DD-X @ 1:6 then scanned on an Epson 4990, my 120
holder is missing, forgive the newton rings!, I made minor adjustments with a
touch of contrast, whites and blacks…very little truthfully! I have also
include a set of contact prints exposed at my test average.
I can tell you it was an enjoyable experience, carrying it all wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be but it is not lightweight! It takes a little practice swapping out lenses causing me a couple of lost frames but familiarity will cure that. All lenses hit their focus points well despite me, with the limited frames I have tried to show performance as best I can.
Someone is going to have a lot of fun with this bundle that
will be filled out with some extras, the price will take into account the 2
weaker lenses. Please enjoy the images.
